A “road map” has been developed for the Transport and Road Economy Ministry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, to ensure the transition to BIM (Building Information Modelling), according to KROK company.

With the new system, the Ministry plans to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of the construction of roads and structures. The project was initiated in anticipation of the entry into force in January 2019 of the mandatory use of BIM technologies in the design of construction projects commissioned by the government.

According to the “road map”, the transition to BIM will be implemented mainly by means of the integration of applications that are already used by the departments and contractors of the Ministry for the design, construction management, reconstruction, repair and operation of objects. This evolutionary approach will cost 2-3 times less than the introduction of new BIM modules and retraining their users.
