A group of the U.S. senators from the Democratic and Republican parties introduced a bill offering measures to address the crisis situation in Venezuela and calling on US President Donald Trump to abort a transaction between the Venezuelan state-owned oil and natural gas company PDVSA and the Russian Rosneft, according to CBS News.

The bill encourages the State Department to give a coordinated international response to the crisis in Venezuela, as well as requires the US intelligence service to prepare a report about the involvement of officials from Venezuela in corruption and drug trade. The document also proposes to provide Venezuela with $10 million in humanitarian aid.

In addition, one of the bill’s points deals with a loan, which Rosneft oil company has granted to PDVSA. The deal, according to CBS, will allow the Russian company to control over the half of Citgo oil enterprise based in the USA in case Venezuela is not able to fulfill its debt obligations.

The deal “is able to carry serious implications for crucial energy infrastructure in the United States,” the Senators’ letter reads.
