The police has initiated a criminal case over a grand scale fraud after a company registered in Cyprus had tried to obtain fake documents for more than 11 hectares of land near the Black Sea in Sevastopol, a city located in the southwestern region of the Crimean Peninsula.

The land value is estimated at 715 million rubles ($12,3 million), the press office of the Prosecutor’s Office of the city said on Friday.

“A group of persons acting with the aim to illegally acquire the ownership rights for five coastal sites submitted fake state acts for the ground to Sevastopol’s Multifunctional Center government institution,” the press release of this supervisory body says.
