Construction of Turkish Stream gas pipeline started this Sunday in the Black Sea, according to a statement released by Gazprom gas holding.

The construction activities have been launched on the Russian coast. Pipes laying is carried out by Audacia vessel owned by Allseas company, which is the contractor for the building of both strings of the pipeline’s offshore section.

The vessels will also be used to pull the pipes from the shore through a microchannel. The construction of Turkish Stream gas pipeline in the deep part of the Black Sea will be implemented by Pioneering Spirit pipelay vessel.

“Today we have set to a practical part of Turkish Stream project – the offshore laying of the pipeline. The project is being implemented strictly according to the plan, and by the end of 2019, our Turkish and European consumers will get a new reliable route for Russian gas imports”, - Chairman of the Board of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, said.
