Wood structures applied in housing construction will allow to achieve a 20% reduction in the cost of the projects, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Viktor Evtukhov, said in an interview published on Wednesday in Izvestia.
“Today, the full extent of wooden construction culture is not fully understood yet, if the matter concerns a multi-storey housing construction. Some of our citizens prefer traditional construction materials, and it is our goal to change this attitude. Worldwide, wood is widely used in construction. According to our estimates, the use of wood materials would reduce the cost of projects by 20%. We held a series of meetings in the government of Moscow, during which discussed issues of construction in Moscow as a pilot project of homes built with the use of structural wood materials,” Viktor Evtukhov said.
