Gazprom, a Russian gas holding, and CNPC, a Chinese largest oil and gas producer and supplier, signed a contract for pre-design studies for the establishment of underground gas storage facility in China.

This is what Gazprom’s press office reported following a meeting between Chairman of the holding’s Board, Alexey Miller, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC, Wang Yilin.

According to the company’s report, the gas storage will be based on gas deposits located in the Heilongjiang province, Bitsui water bearing sands and Chuzhou salt caverns in the Jiangsu province.

It is noted that the documents have been prepared within the framework of the development of the agreement on geological and technical study of the underground gas storage’s creation, which were signed by Gazprom and CNPC in February this year.
