PGNiG, a Polish state oil and gas company, appealed to the European Commission with the request to fine Russian Gazprom for violation of antimonopoly legislation, and to create competitive conditions on the gas market.

“The European Commission should financially punish Gazprom and create competitive conditions on the gas market”, the head of the Polish company, Piotr Wozniak, said.

He also added that PGNiG had filed an application on antitrust investigation against Gazprom, accusing the Russian holding of a “multi-year violation of norms of antimonopoly legislation”, TASS news agency reports on Friday.

According to the Polish party, Gazprom’s violations has led not only to problems with competition in the Central Europe’s gas market, but also to heavy losses among ordinary consumers.
