A white stone bridge has been discovered at Slavyanskaya Square in Moscow over the course of a water pipeline repair works carried out within the framework of “My Street” program.
As the press office of Moscow Mayor Office told Construction.RU, in particular, the stone foundation and a brick arch of the 17th century have been found. This structure was mentioned in relative historical documentation.
Under the rule of Emperor of Russia Alexander I, Slavyanskaya Square was levelled and the bridge was covered up with soil. In Soviet-Era period, the bridge’s structure was heavily damaged during the laying of utilities.
Now, all new information on the bridge will be included in Moscow’s archaeological map.
