Bridgestone, a Japanese company, has opened its first in Russia and the CIS plant for the production of tires for passenger cars, the Commerce and Industry Ministry of the Russian Federation reports.




The facility is located in Zavolzhye industrial park in the Ulyanovsk region, Russia.

“On the 25th of May 2017, an official opening ceremony of first in Russia and the CIS plant for the production of tires under the brand of Bridgestone will be carried out by Bridgestone Tayer Manufacturing CIS in Zavolzhye industrial park in the Ulyanovsk region”, a press release reads.

As noted in the Ministry’s release, the project for construction of high-tech plant manufacturing Bridgestone tires has been implemented within the framework of an investment agreement between Bridgestone Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, the government of the Ulyanovsk region and JSC Development Corporation of the Ulyanovsk region. The total investment amounted to about 12,5 billion rubles ($221 million).
