Construction of a protective fence started on the border of Lithuania with Russia.
“Until the end of the year, this barrier will be erected on the Lithuanian side, at a stretch with the length of 44.6 kilometers”, the Security Service of Lithuania’s State Border said on Monday.
A new protective fence will be built on the basis of a contract concluded between the Security Service of Lithuania’s State Border and Vilkaviskis company Gintreja in the area, where the state border will pass by land. The cost of the works amounts to 1 million 335 thousand euro, the funds have been allocated from the budget of Lithuania.
All provided in the contract activities for the infrastructure equipment of the new fencing are scheduled to be completed by the 20th of December this year.
