The Qatari sovereign wealth fund (Qatar Investment Authority, QIA) did not apply to Russian oil company Lukoil with a proposal to buy part of the gas filling stations owned by the Russian company, the head of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov told Rambler News.

“No, there were no such applications,” Alekperov said, answering the question of whether the Qatari investment fund QIA had shown interest in buying part of the company’s gas stations.

Earlier, Kommersant newspaper reported about the interest of QIA in such kind of deal.

In January 2017, a consortium consisting of Glencore and QIA completed the purchase of 19.5% of Rosneft shares. As a result, the state budget of Russia received 710,8 billion rubles (U.S. $11.1 billion, or €10.5 billion).
