Over the course of this week, about 20,000 appeals against adopting the law on Moscow housing renovation program have been submitted to State Duma, the Russian Federal Parliament.

This is what the head of the parliamentary committee for transport and construction, Yevgeny Moskvichev, said at a session of State Duma. According to him, when the appeals were thoroughly explored, it turned out that not all of them related to the renovation program per se.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, several thousand of Moscow residents took part in a spontaneous march against the renovation program near the Parliament’s building. As a reference, today, State Duma holds a public hearing on adopting the law regulating this issue.

However, the protesters were not let inside the building. As one of the rally’s activists, deputy Sergey Mitrokhin, commented in his Twitter account, “Moscow residents are against renovation, but they are not let in to attend the hearing. Is it really a public hearing then?”
