Pertamina, an Indonesian state oil and gas company, which is building an oil refinery jointly with Russian company Rosneft in Tuban on Java Island, plans to delay upgrading of some refineries, including joint ventures with Rosneft and Saudi Aramco due to financing troubles.

This is what Reuters reports referring to a statement of a Pertamina’s representative, Rahmad Hardadi. According to him, the deadline was extended to ensure that the cost would not become a burden for the company. Rahmad Hardadi noted that some adjustments were needed to make the existing project balanced with the new ones in the field of mining and infrastructure requirements.

Mr. Hartadi also added that Pertamina planned to discuss on June 7 with Rosneft the construction of an oil refinery in Tuban until 2023-2024 years. Originally, the plant was planned to be built by 2021.
