The USA should remove restrictions from the Russian diplomatic property, otherwise Moscow will take similar measures against American property in its territory, the official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
“If Washington does not renew diplomatic immunity for our property, the answer is in respect to the American facilities in Russia will be mirrorlike,” Zakharova said at a briefing in the Russian city of Vladivostok.
“We demand to immediately return to us what had been taking away absolutely illegally. We consider actions of the US authorities completely unacceptable, because they violate provisions of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations of 1961,” she added.
As a reference, in late 2016, the former US administration imposed sanctions against Moscow for alleged hacker attacks during the presidential elections in the United States. Among other things, the USA has closed access to two residential complexes belonging to Russia's permanent mission in New York and the Russian Embassy in Washington, which is the Russian diplomatic property.
