Construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait in the republic of Crimea is carried out ahead of schedule, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Today, the President is answering questions from Russian citizens over the course of his traditional The Direct Line call-in session.

“The Kerch or the Crimean Bridge is being built in accordance with the schedule, even a bit ahead of it. I'm not going to talk about how much it has advanced, but at this time there is no doubt that all the plans will be implemented in time and with proper quality, which is the most important thing,” Mr. Putin noted.

A bridge across the Kerch Strait that will link the Crimea and the Krasnodar region will become the longest in one Russia, with its length amounting to 19 kilometers. The total cost of the project is 227,92 billion rubles. The bridge is scheduled to be put in operation in December 2018.
