Workers of Evraz Calgary, a Canadian plant of Evraz, have voted to strike, the Union of Steel Industry Workers of Canada (USW) reports on Friday. The decision was taken unanimously.

The Union’s message says that despite the efforts made in negotiating a voluntary collective agreement, the management of Evraz has launched an unprecedented attack on working conditions of the company’s employees.

According to the Union’s Director for Western Canada Stephen Hunt, despite the fact that Evraz is an extremely profitable company, it is trying to get more money by denying benefits to workers, retirees and their spouses.

At the end of May, employees of Evraz Regina plant, a leading steel mill in Western Canada, voted for a strike. Evraz Calgary is an important supplier of the North American energy market, specializing in equipment for oil and gas wells.
