Oil and gas company DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG, which is controlled by Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman, has opened an office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the company’s statement reads.
Christoph Schlichter was appointed the head of the DEA branch in Brazil.
The company plans to participate in tenders for obtaining licenses for oil and gas fields in the country. In addition, DEA will explore the possibility of participating in projects implemented within the framework of current licenses in Brazil.
Earlier in 2013, DEA established a new subsidiary DEA Petróleo e Gás do Brasil.
“We are interested in a long-term operation in the region and are willing to make appropriate investments,” the document says.
