German Wintershall agree the assessment made by the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, that a gas pipeline planned within Nord Stream 2 project may not be sufficient to meet a growing demand for gas in Europe.
This statement was made by the head of Wintershall's business in Russia, Libya, South America Thilo Wieland in an interview with Rambler News.
“If to look at a trend of the European gas market development, one could see that a gap between supply and demand will grow in the future. And in this case, I agree with Mr. Miller: the demand for gas will be higher than 55 billion cubic meters, which will be delivered through Nord Stream 2,” he said.
Mr. Wieland added that he was sure that Europe would need additional infrastructure, including both LNG terminals and pipelines from North Africa, the Mediterranean or Russia.
