President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels that through the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Russia is going to “take revenge” on Kiev, according to Korrespondent.net.
Mr. Poroshenko claims that the gas pipeline project does not pursue economic or energy purposes. Using Nord Stream 2, Russia, first of all, is willing to deprive Ukraine of two billion dollars, which Kiev receives for a gas transit.
“This is a very serious threat to Ukraine, which the Russian Federation creates,” the Ukrainian leader noted. From his point of view, Moscow wants to take revenge on Kiev for the decision of the Stockholm arbitration taken in favor of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
