The German carmaker BMW Group will invest $600 million within 2018-2021 years in production infrastructure for the manufacture of next generation models of X family at a factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina (the United States), the company said, citing the head of BMW Harald Krueger.

At present, the plant is preparing for the production of the new BMW X7, which will be presented on the market by the end of 2018.

The group has already invested $8 billion since the establishment of production in 1994, and 3.9 million vehicles have been produced over the past period.

The plant in Spartanburg with a maximum capacity of 450,000 cars a year produces vehicles of family X for the US and other markets. In 2016, 411,000 cars have been released. More than 70% of the production is exported.
