India plans to build a railroad in the Himalayas, which will be the highest one in the world.
As IANS news agency informs on Wednesday, the Railways Minister of India Suresh Prabhu has approved a decision to start engineering surveys, which will allow to establish a final route of the new road.
Railroad tracks should go on the route of Bilaspur - Manali - Leh, and link the mountainous areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. It is assumed that the highest point of the route will be at a height of 5300 meters above sea level. Therefore, this road should be higher than Qinghai-Tibet railway in China, which today holds the title of the world’s highest.
