Construction of the region’s first solar power plant with a capacity of 10 MW has started near the Russian city of Volgograd, Russia.
As Construction.RU was told by the press office of PJSC Lukoil, the unique facility will be located on vacant sites of the Volgograd oil processing plant with an area of 21 hectares, in the Krasnoarmeisk district of the city.
The construction and assembly activities are planned to be completed in September, while the facility will be put in operation in 2018.
The new solar power plant will generate about 12 million kW/h of electricity per year, and, what is more important, its operation will allow to reduce carbon dioxide emission to the atmosphere by 10,000 tons.
