In August, German automaker Volkswagen will start deliveries of its cars to Iran, according to Reuters.

Volkswagen will come back to Iranian market after 17 years of a break. The company has signed an agreement with Iranian Khodro Mammut for the supply of the models of Tiguan and Passat.

Earlier, the French company Total returned on the Iranian market. The consortium of Total, China's CNPC and the Iranian Petropars (a subsidiary of NIOC, the National Iranian Oil Company) signed a contract for the development of the 11th phase the world's largest gas field South Pars in Iran.

In 2002, the United States and its European partners have imposed economic sanctions against Iran, accusing Tehran of nuclear weapons development under the guise of a peaceful nuclear program. The restrictions were imposed by the EU, the USA and the UN Security Council.
