Scientists from Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, a Russian national research university, have invented a technology for asphalt and concrete material designed to be applied at automobile road construction.

The matter concerns electro-mechanical properties of polypropylene composites with carbon nanotubes.

The unique composition and new technology for the elimination of roadway cracks will reduce the period of road repair from one week to several hours, as well as will cut costs of repair at least threefold.

The technology has already been approved by experts of the International Transport Alliance (ITA), and has become the first international development included in the Alliance’s program. Field trials of the new technology are planned for the construction season of 2017 at one of the road objects within the preparation for World Cup scheduled to be held in Russia in 2018.
