The Luxembourg Parliament will vote on a bill that allows companies registered in the country to extract and possess space mineral resources, BFM TV reports.

“Luxembourg will become the first European country which, in accordance with international law, will adopt a law providing guarantees to private operators allowing them to own the extracted outer space resources,” the Economy Minister of Luxembourg, Etienne Schneider, said.

In particular, the law allows registered in the territory of Luxembourg companies to own space resources such as water, metals, which are extracted, for example, on asteroids.

At present, four companies specializing in the space sector are registered in the country. These are American Deep Space Industries and Planetary Resources, the Japanese company Ispace and German Blue Horizon.
