The only production site manufacturing Vertu smartphones will be liquidated, the Financial Times reports.

The newspaper notes that the closure of the enterprise located in the United Kingdom will entail the dismissal of 200 employees. Previously, BBC reported the bankruptcy of the company.

It is noteworthy that Turkish businessman Murat Hakan Uzan, who purchased Vertu in the spring of 2017, hoping to restart production, reserves the right for technological development of the company.

Vertu, a manufacturer and retailer of luxury handmade mobile phones, was established by Finnish mobile-phone manufacturer Nokia and is based in the UK. By the end of 2013, Vertu phones were on sale in 500 retail outlets.
