The largest children's investment project in Russia in recent years is going to be implemented on the territory of Artek, an international children center situated on the Black Sea, Interfax news agency reports on Friday.




The new children's campus under the name of “Solnechny” will cost a total of 10 billion rubles ($175 million). Of this amount, 2 billion rubles ($35 million) have already been allocated for construction activities.

A total area of the complex will account for over six hectares, which will house 12 buildings designed for a 1,000 beds, as well as an educational center for 2,000 people, catering facilities, sports complex, and a medical center.

Once “Solnechny” camp is put into operation, Artek will be capable of taking over 50,000 children annually. It should be noted that children coming to Artek are not only from Russia but also from more than 60 countries.
