A large pharmaceutical factory producing medical drugs based on human blood plasma will be built in St. Petersburg, the northern capital city of Russia, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.

The enterprise is estimated at about 3.2 billion rubles ($56 million). Today, an official stone laying ceremony took place at the construction site. The facility is planned to be built within two years, after which the first medical drugs will be released. The new pharmaceutical factory will become a full-cycle enterprise for a deep processing of blood.

It is expected that the company will produce half a million packs of drug annually. The range of medical products includes blood substitutes, immunoglobulins, and various innovative medicines. The drugs planned for production at this factory are claimed to be effective and, at the same time, absolutely safe. About 200 highly qualified employees will work at the enterprise.
