The Turkish Stream gas pipeline will increase energy security of the countries of South-Eastern Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference after talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“This (the construction of the Turkish Stream) will saturate the gas market both in Turkey and in a number of countries in South-Eastern Europe, if, of course, they want it, and will also enhance the regional energy security”, Vladimir Putin said.
Russian President added that the project was being implemented in accordance with the schedule.
As a reference, the Turkish Stream is a project of a pipeline running from the Krasnodar region across the Black Sea to the Turkish Thrace coast. The pipeline is intended to replace the canceled South Stream project.
