In 2018, India may decide on cooperating with Russia on the implementation of a Plato electronic system for collecting tolls from trucks, according to the First Deputy Transport Minister Yevgeny Dietrich.

“We are working with Asia and a number of other countries. Our colleagues are studying our experience. In addition to our work with the countries of the Customs Union, India is a country with which we have advanced most of all. We expect that such agreements can really grow into concrete contracts on cooperation as early as this year”, he said. Mr. Dietrich has also noted that sanctions imposed against Russia will not affect the effectiveness of the Plato electronic system.

“Plato is a Russian electronic toll collection system, a Russian development, a Russian component base. We do not expect any pressure to be exerted. Those with whom we are actively cooperating in this direction, our partners in the East, fortunately, take a reasonable approach both to the choice of us as partners and the issues of sanctioning, so we will go on working with them,” Mr. Dietrich said.
