In connection with the start of new construction works at Vostochny Cosmodrome, a Russian spaceport in the Russian Far East, the Prosecutor General's Office intends to strengthen supervision of this strategic object.
The corresponding proposal was submitted by the office to the government of the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti news agency reported on Tuesday quoting the annual report of the Prosecutor General to the Federation Council.
The report clarifies that this measure is necessary to prevent the creation of conditions that would contribute to the commission of new offenses. We should remind you that in 2017, during the construction work at the cosmodrome, more than 8,500 violations were identified, with 150 officials being brought to justice. About 40 criminal cases were referred to the court.
