Moscow authorities are considering building a metro station located near Vnukovo airport, Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor of the Russian capital city told the media on Thursday.
According to him, the new metro station, which is named Vnukovo after the airport, can be built on the Kalininskaya-Solntsevskaya line of the Moscow metro. Khusnullin has noted that currently a site for construction is being selected. One option is located approximately 600-800 meters away from the airport, which will allow the passengers of the air harbor to reach the station on foot.
The project for extending this metro line can be approved as early as next year. Two new stations will be located on a stretch of about 5.5 kilometers. Construction work will start after 2020 and will be completed no earlier than in three or four years.
