Former Russian Sports Minister to become a Deputy PM for construction

Acting Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has proposed appointing former Minister of Sports of Russia, Vitaly Mutko, Deputy PM for construction.




Vitaly Mutko served as Deputy Prime Minister of Russia for sports, tourism, and youth policy from October 2016 to May 2018. Earlier, from 2008 to 2016, he had been the Minister of Sports. Before that, Mr. Mutko held the post of President of the Russian Football Union.

The possible appointment of Vitaly Mutko as Deputy Prime Minister for construction came as a surprise for experts in real estate market, RIA Novosti reports on Monday. They called his candidacy unexpected and expressed the hope that the head of the Construction Ministry would be a person with an experience in the industry.
