The Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which runs from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to Europe, will be put into operation on June 12, 2018, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak said.
According to him, Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan, Recep Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev, will take part in the official ceremony of TANAP commissioning.
“Putting TANAP into operation is the key to continuing the active energy policy of Turkey,” Albayrak was quoted as saying by Turkish Anadolu agency.
The head of Turkish Energy Ministry also said that in the summer of 2018, Turkey will begin deep-sea drilling in the Mediterranean.
As a reference, TANAP with the length of about 1,800 km is part of the Southern Gas Corridor.
