On Tuesday, President Vladimir Putin will take part in the official opening of the Crimean Bridge across the Kerch Strait, RIA Novosti reported citing Kremlin's press office.
The opening of the road section of Europe’s largest bridge will take place on May 15, 2018, while the traffic movement will be launched the next day, on May 16. According to the message, the President will check the readiness of the Single Center for Traffic Management and all operational services for the bridge operation.
During the opening ceremony of the bridge’s road section, a column of construction equipment will move along the road. The event will be attended by members of bridge construction crews from different Russian regions, who have an extended experience in such grandiose projects as preparation for the APEC summit in Vladivostok and Sochi Olympics Games.
Construction of the 19-kilometer bridge across the Kerch Strait started in winter 2016. The commissioning of the automobile part of the facility was planned for December 2018, but the builders managed to complete the project ahead of schedule.
