President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine declared at a press conference following the talks with Estonian President, Kersti Kaljulaid, that it was necessary to exert maximum efforts to halt the Nord Stream 2 project.

“We clearly indicated that this project was not an economic project, but rather harmed European unity. We clearly stated that for today we needed to make every effort to ensure that the political projects that destroyed the unity of the European Union were stopped”, Poroshenko was quoted as saying by Ukrinform.

According to the Ukrainian President, Kiev is ready to provide any guarantees of the reliability and efficiency of energy transit through Ukraine. Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine had unique opportunities, underground storage facilities, and sufficient reserves to increase the volume of transit.
