Enel starts construction of El Paso solar power plant in Colombia

Enel Green Power Colombia (EGPC), a subsidiary of Italy-based Enel, has launched the construction of El Paso solar power plant with a capacity of 86.2 MW in Colombia, the company reports.




El Paso will become the company’s first solar energy generating facility in Colombia and the largest one under construction in the country.

Enel is investing about $70 million in building El Paso. The facility is scheduled for commissioning in the second half of this year. A solar power plant consisting of about 250,000 solar panels, after full commissioning, will be able to generate as much as 176 GWh per year. The power plant will be connected to the National Transmission System via El Paso substation.

As a reference, Enel is the first private investor in Colombia’s energy sector.
