The American Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has criticized the administration of President Donald Trump for imposing 25-percent tariffs on imports of goods from China amounting up to $ 50 billion.

Among the imported Chinese products that fall under this category are construction and agricultural equipment.

According to AEM President Dennis Slater, the Association leadership is extremely disappointed by the Trump administration's decision to apply this “harmful tax”. She has noted that this move jeopardizes many of the 1.3 million jobs in manufacture industry. The expected Chinese response will also increase the costs of equipment manufacturers relying on an extensive supply system around the world. And this will further reduce the impact of the latest tax reform.

“We will continue to fight to end these tariffs immediately,” Slater said.

The introduction of tariffs on imports of goods from China was preceded by a similar measure with respect to imports of steel and aluminum into the US, which entered into force on March 23, 2018.
