Currently, the most suitable site for construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan is being selected, Uzbekenergo said.

Specialists are considering at least 10 options for the construction site, local media reported on Monday. As the representative of Uzbekenergo Eso Sadullayev has specified, the final choice will be made in the very near future. According to him, when selecting a site, experts rely on such criteria as the optimal distribution of electrical load and the level of infrastructure development.

Sadullayev has also noted that the cost of building a nuclear power plant, which is planned to be completed in 5 years, is still being determined with the Russian partner.

Earlier, Uzbek Ambassador to Russia Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov announced that Moscow and Tashkent were developing a plan for the implementation of a project providing for creating the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The facility, which was called “multi-billion”, will be built by the Russian state corporation Rosatom.
