Gazprombank intends to take part in the construction of a Sakhalin oil and gas industrial park, and is going to consider the possibility of providing funds for the project, the bank’s press office said.
The Memorandum of Intentions for the construction of an industrial park in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a city on Sakhalin island, was signed between the bank and the regional authorities at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
“Given the social and economic importance of the project for the Sakhalin region, as well as the need to attract funding for the park construction, Gazprombank will consider the possibility of providing funds for the project”, Gazprombank said in a statement.
As a result, the report says, a logistics base for domestic oil and gas companies operating on the Sakhalin shelf will appear in the region. In the conditions of territorial remoteness from industrial centers of Russia, an industrial park housing industrial, storage, office, auxiliary facilities will become a platform for repair and maintenance of technological and production equipment of oil and gas companies.
The project was initiated by the Sakhalin Energy company, which operates the Sakhalin 2 oil and gas project.
