In early 2019, a new Leroy Merlin store with a total area of 17 thousand square meters will be built in the western district of Rostov-on-Don, a Russian port city.

This was announced at a meeting of the City Council on Investments, in which the company’s representative, Elena Khazaryan, took part.

“The location of the shopping center was selected with consideration for the developed infrastructure of the district and the availability of access roads... We expect that this will attract buyers from the city of Taganrog”, she said. According to Khazaryan, a sales area of the store will amount to 10 thousand square meters, while a parking will be designed for 750 cars. The approximate date of the facility commissioning is the beginning of 2019.

According to the first deputy head of the administration of the Soviet district of Rostov-on-Don Sergey Afanaskin, investments in the project are estimated at about 1,7 billion rubles ($25 million). When the store is put in operation, about 250 jobs are expected to be created.

As a reference, Leroy Merlin is an international retail company specializing in the sale of goods for the construction, finishing, and furnishing of a house, cottage, and garden. The company was founded in 1923 in northern France. The first store in Russia was put in operation in 2004.
