In early September, Chinese CRCC has begun tunneling the left metro tunnel running from Prospect Vernadskogo station to Michurinsky Prospekt station in the south-western section of the Big Circle Line.
The route of the tunnel has a length of 1461 meters and will run under Udaltsova Street, according to Mosinzhproekt, the single operator of the Moscow metro development.
As a reference, China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) is the general contractor for the new metro section, including Prospekt Vernadskogo, Michurinsky Prospekt and Aminevskoye Shosse.
As indicated in the press release, at present, four CRCC tunnel boring machines are operating at the south-western section of the Big Circle Line. A total of five tunnel boring machines are planned to be exploited during the work.
The Big Circle Line with a length of 70 kilometers will connect all the radial branches at a distance of up to 10 kilometers from the already existing ring, with 31 metro stations opened on it. The first section of the new ring opened in February.
