LDA architectural bureau jointly with the Russian MAP Architects and the British WSP will develop a master plan for the Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad, the state-owned company Dom.rf said, which acted as one of the tender’s organizers.




“82 companies were invited to participate in the tender, 28 companies from 12 countries took part in the first stage, while five teams from Russia, Sweden, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom were selected to participate in the final part,” the report reads.

MAP Architects (Russia) and WSP (Great Britain) will work in f consortium. The master plan is expected to be completed in January 2019.

As a reference, Oktyabrsky Island with a total area of 385 hectares extends from the central part of the city of Kaliningrad to its administrative borders in the east. Integrated development of the island will take about 25 years. Since August this year, Russian-controlled foreign companies can re-register on the island, in this case, the company gets an international status and the ability to make currency transactions and settlements without restrictions. There are also tax breaks, in particular, a reduction in tax on income received in the form of dividends and when selling shares.

The British company LDA Design was founded in 1979 in London. The Bureau is engaged in the integrated design, creation of sustainable development strategies for territories, landscape architecture, and engineering solutions.
