Abkhazia began to supply crushed stone to the Crimea, which is intended for the construction of large infrastructure facilities, Director General of the Crimean sea ports Alexey Volkov said on Monday.

“We have brought contracts from there (Abkhazia — editor’s note) and the first ship with crushed stone has already departed from Abkhazia. This area of cooperation is being developed now,” Volkov was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying.

According to him, the crushed stone will be used in the construction of the Tavrida federal highway and in the future, perhaps, this material will be applied in the building of access roads to the railway section of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
“We have definitely agreed with Abkhazia on the inert materials. As for passenger transportation, time will put everything in its proper place”, Volkov added.
As a reference, in the Crimea, a four-lane Tavrida highway is being built, which will connect Kerch, a place where the bridge is built, with Simferopol and Sevastopol. The first phase of the road construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2018, while the second one is scheduled for the end of 2020.
