A glass hanging bridge in China is not for the faint-hearted

As the local press reports, the 180m-high bridge connects two mountain peaks in the Chinese national park of Shiniuzhai. At first the object was made of wood, but because of the natural material’s wear and tear the park authorities took a decision to reconstruct the bridge. Over 10 years, the wooden boards have been exchanged for tough, modern, light glass ones.
According to the constructors’ assessment, the new covering is 25 times stronger than common glass. A steel structure supports the bridge. Many tourists are said to stand mute with wonder whilst passing over the bridge.
