The date of the first shipment of the S-300 missile systems to Iran has been determined

This is what the CEO of Rostec Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, has said in an interview to the American “Wall Street Journal” newspaper.

Mr Chemezov pointed out that Russia will deliver to Iran the latest modification of such systems — S-300PMU-1. That was one of the basic conditions, laid down by the Iranian party. However, that will be the last supply of the Russian S-300 systems abroad.

More likely, the production of such air-defense systems will be phased out in Russia after the contract with Iran is performed.

To remind you, as early as 2007 Russia has signed a contract with Iran to supply it with five S-300 missile battalions, including 40 launchers, worth $800 mln.

However, on June, 9, 2010 The UN Security Council has set a veto on the modern weapons delivery to Iran. It was only after the successful negotiations on the Iranian nuclear dossier, when this ban has been lifted.

In November, 2015 Sergey Chemezov announced that the contract with Teheran on the S-300 supply will be implemented.
