Conflict with landowner provokes IKEA to build hypermarket in Russia

The Swedish company has allegedly abandoned a plan to build MEGA trade center in the “Iva-1” micro-district on the ground of a conflict arisen between IKEA management and the land plot’s owner, the papers say.

Following that incident, Swedish company began to consider land plots not just in the city of Perm, but in the Perm region on the whole. As soon as IKEA representatives take a final decision on the selection of the construction site, they will initiate official negotiations with the local authorities.

As a reference, the company’s policy envisages construction of IKEA hypermarkets in Russian cities with population of more than 500,000 inhabitants.
