Rosatom completes engineering surveys at Paks nuclear power plant in Hungary

Information on this issue has been provided in ASE's annual report of 2015. The document also says that the development of a technical project and preliminary report on Paks-2 nuclear power plant's ground security is scheduled for this year.

As a reference, Paks nuclear power plant is located 5 km from the city of Paks and no more than 100 km from the Hungary's capital, Budapest. The power plant was built upon the Soviet project. At present, four units operate there with WWER-440 type reactors, which produce over 50% of electricity in the country.

At the end of 2014, Russia and Hungary have signed documents on the construction of the 5th and 6th units of the only Hungarian Paks nuclear power plant with a reactor of Russian WWER-1200 technology. For that purpose, Russia will grant a loan to Hungary in amount of up to 10 bln euro.
