Zaha Hadid Architects receives permit to design tower in Melbourne

The 54-storey building is situated in business district of Melbourne. Apart from 420 apartments, there will be offices, retail and public areas.

The architect separated this area into a so-called “a series of stacked vases”, what will be reflected in the building’s design. The design is also inspired by Melbourne’s diverse urban landscape.

According to Zaha Hadid Architects, the finished building will use 50% less energy than a conventional mixed-use tower of its size. This result has been reached by means of the usage of a high performance cladding, high efficiency central cooling and lighting, as well as greywater recycling.
