Seven Shell drilling platforms shut down in Nord Sea due to strike

Hundreds of workers from oil and gas drilling platforms, located in the British part of the shelf of the Nord Sea, blacked the work on Thursday. They called a strike due to another cut of wages and jobs prompted by fall of oil prices.

The first strike of Wood Group's employees was held last month and lasted the whole day and night. Negotiations aimed at preventing work stoppage in future, failed this week.

According to John Boland, regional officer for Unite, that was the third round of jobs cuts and employees are offered an “unrealistic” wage for their work.
